so the little nutter (Leo) has never slept properly since the day he was born, and now at 3.5 he is STILL waking at least once if not twice or three times a night. we...cannot...do....this anymore. drastic measure is to let him scream it out (horrible) until he falls asleep, but we've basically taught him that if he wakes in the night he gets rewarded with attention and milk.
so why, pray tell, my dolly LJ friends are probably asking does this concern my mostly dollyfied LJ? well it means moving little nutter into the study where my beloved Macintosh is, where my broadband connection is. my Mac is 3 years old so not wireless and therefore the broadband connection has to be moved, this will probably take the nimrods at Telewest a few weeks to sort out so that means no internet at night (i can still logon in the day at work).
this is annoying me beyond belief. not having access when i come home from work, after i put the kids to bed and have MY time feels a bit like somebody is cutting my arm off. it's made me realise what a ridonkulous addiction i have to the net. in fact this is probably a good thing, i'll get far more sewing done and all the little things about the house that i look at and make a mental note to see to will, well, get seen to....at least until the broadband connection is moved to our bedroom. : P
someone else out there tell me they have an internet problem. PLEASE.
(and thankyou if you made it through this tedious post)

gah about your broadband! i hope Telewest will shift their bum & get it sorted out for you soon. i'm not having internet problems right now, but i have in the past, & for a while it seemed to always happen when i most wanted to use the internet/had the time to, very frustrating & i can empathise to a degree (though i dont' have kids) from past experience!
good luck with Telewest!!

I have tried to make the disruption easier by doing something as fun. Sewing like you said, or taking the dog for a long walk, or reading a book, or going out for dinner or coffee with a friend. It actually works.

i sympathise with you Linda. my little brother (who is now 18 and just visiting me..) was like that as a kid. he was impossible to put to sleep.....(i cared for him alot) anyhow...we even used to give him 'herbal relaxants' to try and get him to sleep (oh that sounds so...safe and caring ,hah!) we were so desperate with him....
finally we solved it..he loved books on tape, even as a wee boy..
but actually to be honest, to this day he stays up too late and cannot sleep unless he listens to something or stays up past 3am.......no matter when he wakes up.....

the herbal relaxant sounds interesting LOL! we have had to sedate Leo a couple of times with Phenergen - use to alleviate symptoms of hay fever but is also used as a mild sedative because it causes drowsiness.
